New London Hospital (NLH), a member of Dartmouth Health, is proud to announce the rebrand of NLH Express Care, to NLH Express Care Plus, reinforcing their commitment to delivering high-quality, accessible care to the community.

Opened in November 2021, Express Care Plus is a Type B Emergency Department, uniquely positioned to treat non-life-threatening conditions and illnesses while providing patients access to advanced services such as state-of-the-art imaging, on-site labs, and seamless collaboration with medical specialists.

“We are fortunate to be able to provide our community with exceptional benefits and care,” says Lauren Geddes Wirth, MD, President and CEO, New London Hospital. “The addition of Plus to the Express Care name provides the opportunity to enhance our messaging that Express Care Plus is a Type B Emergency Department. This is an important and perfect distinction as we are not licensed like regional urgent care centers, or even other Dartmouth Health Express Care centers.”

A Type B Emergency Department is an emergency care facility that is licensed by the state of New Hampshire and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). By definition, a Type B Emergency Department provides care for emergency medical conditions on an urgent basis without an appointment.

NLH Express Care Plus accepts most insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. Patient costs will vary based on their specific coverage. Some insurance plans may require patients to pay an emergency room level copayment and coinsurance. Being classified as a Type B Emergency Department, Express Care Plus is held to the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA). New London Hospital is required by law, and provides emergency medical screening and stabilizing treatment to any patient, regardless of their ability to pay or their insurance coverage.

NLH Express Care Plus is open 7 days-a-week, Monday-Friday, 9 am-7 pm, Saturday, 9 am-5 pm and Sunday, 9 am-3 pm.

Everyone is welcome at NLH Express Care Plus, including patients without a primary care provider and patients from outside the Dartmouth Health system. No appointment is required.
