NEW LONDON HOSPITAL TO CONDUCT EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS DRILL

New London Hospital (NLH) announces it will conduct an Emergency Preparedness Exercise on Saturday, June 11 at Colby-Sawyer College and New London Hospital. This exercise will be held in collaboration with the New London Fire Department, the New London Police Department and Colby-Sawyer College Campus Safety, to test emergency response capabilities in the case of an "active shooter" crisis situation.

"Although unlikely, no institution is invulnerable to a crisis situation," says Pamela Drewniak, EMS and Emergency Preparedness Coordinator at NLH. "Emergency preparedness drills provide an opportunity for hospital staff and community Emergency Medical Services personnel to test the systems we have in place and constantly improve upon our response plans and course of action."

NLH conducts multiple emergency preparedness exercises each year to remain in compliance with federal guidelines. The exercise will begin early morning and will conclude approximately at noon. Patient care and emergencies at NLH will not be affected as a result of the exercise during this time period.
