NEW LONDON HOSPITAL PROVIDES $5.4 MILLION IN COMMUNITY BENEFIT
During FY 2011, New London Hospital invested $5,350,000 in community services, charity care and financial assistance to our community. $4,212,000 of that investment was for free and subsidized patient care, including charity care, ambulance services, emergency services, primary care, mental health services and Medication Bridge.
Each year New London Hospital shares our community benefit efforts with you through its NLHA Community Benefit Report. Through health fairs, professional and community education and subsidized and charity care, we work to make a difference in our community every day.
In addition, The Affordable Care Act of 2010 requires not-for-profit hospitals to conduct a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) every three years. New London Hospital completed its most recent assessment in May 2012 and you may read the entire report by clicking on the link below.
The assessment reflects five months of bringing key healthcare stakeholders, healthcare consumers and community leaders together to share their perspective on the health needs of our service area of 15 towns. The report also includes a significant amount of quantitative and qualitative data collected from the State of New Hampshire and other regional sources.
