NEW LONDON HOSPITAL PROVIDED $7.64 MILLION IN COMMUNITY BENEFIT IN 2013.
During FY 2013, New London Hospital invested $7,624,906 in community services, charity care and financial assistance to our community. $979,160 of that investment was for patient charity care, and $6,645,746 was invested in unreimbursed ambulance services, emergency services, primary care, mental health services and Medication Bridge.
Each year New London Hospital shares our community benefit efforts with you through its NLHA Community Benefit Report. Through health fairs, professional and community education and subsidized and charity care, we work to make a difference in our community every day.
In addition, The Affordable Care Act of 2010 requires not-for-profit hospitals to conduct a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) every three years. New London Hospital completed its most recent assessment in May 2012 and you may read the entire report by clicking on the link below.
The needs assessment reflects five months of bringing key healthcare stakeholders, healthcare consumers and community leaders together to share their perspective on the health needs of our service area of 15 towns. The report also includes a significant amount of quantitative and qualitative data collected from the State of New Hampshire and other regional sources.
If you have any questions about the FY 2013 Community Benefit Report or the Community Health Needs Assessment, or the Community Health Needs Assessment Implementation Plan please contact the Community Relations and Development office at 603.526-5373.
